LO2: Planning a multipage website

For the creation of multipage website I shall be following the brief to ‘create a multipage website for a band or artist’. I’m choosing this brief because I know all the members of my chosen band ‘Broken District’, and was a member myself in the past, meaning I will have a close relationship with the client.

Purpose

The purpose of this website is to promote the band and their music as well as giving people an insight to the members and how to get in contact with them. The Iron Maiden band site (ironmaiden.com) serves the same purpose as my website, however Iron Maiden is one of the biggest bands in the world and so I won’t be aiming my website at such a wide audience. Because of this I won’t be including sections like ‘latest tweets’ and ‘fanclub’ simply because the band I am using is not known well enough.
The thing I do like about the Iron Maiden is it’s compatibility across devices, which is something I will also try to do with my website. This makes it more accessible and therefore will hopefully mean it reaches a wider audience due to it’s accessibility.

Target Audience

The target audience for my website, as previously stated, is not going to have as wide of a range as the Iron Maiden website. But it is still going to be aimed at people who like rock and metal, the reason for this is because the music produced by the band is rock/metal. I’m also going to aim it at people who like going to local gigs and the reason for this is again due to the status of ‘Broken District’, this website is primarily to promote the band rather than aid current fans (or lack of).

Imaginary entity

This is my imaginary entity to give me a clearer idea of the audience I am targeting:

Tom is a 17 year old student studying Music at The Sheffield College. Tom lives for Music and if he’s not listening to his favourite tracks via Spotify then he’s rocking out on his garage with his friends. At the weekends he likes to go to local gigs so he can discover new bands, new friends and new drinks – because alcohol is always a vital part to his evenings. A few beers, and a few more, help to numb the pain when Tom’s in the pit; and he certainly has the bruises to prove it. But no matter how bad the mosh pit may be, one thing is for certain – If Tom’s going out of this life he’s going up the stairway to heaven, or the highway to hell.
